Water Damage While Away In Winter

Most insurance policies do not insure for loss or damage caused by freezing during the usual heating season within a heated portion of your dwelling if you are away from your premises for more than 4 consecutive days, but you will still be insured if any of the following precautions have been taken.

  1. You have arranged for a competent person to enter your home each day to ensure that the heat was being maintained.
  2. You have shut off the water supply and have drained all the pipes and domestic water containers
  3. Or if your plumbing and heating system is connected to a monitored alarm station providing 24 hour service.
